I love the mail, and the mail loves me.

I'm totally late in posting this, but I received my Backtack gift last week, and it's awesome. Check it out:

Backtack!

This is from Andrea at Mellowtrouble. She's one of the coolest girls I've met through these secret-pal things, and just a complete doll. I mean, really! Look at that! She made a basket bag! Sewing a bag to a basket! That's amazing! Even more amazing? What she filled it with:

Prizes inside

There some multi-colored roving, adorable little scissors that look like a bird, chocolate, pom-pom forms, more roving, Lush (which I absolutely adore and want to sleep with), and some darling little sock point protectors. I was astonished, stunned and speechless, then giddy for two days.

My Backtack buddy was Caro over at Splityarn. I couldn't believe it when I got her name, because we'd been trading ROAK's over the past few months and I am constantly amazed with all of her finished projects. So I was very, very nervous. This is what I sent her:

Backtack for Caro

This was my first zipper installation, and I messed up quite a few times. The directions I was using totally confused me and then the lining kept ending up on the outside. So I slept on it and figured it out by the time I woke up the next morning. I love the piecing for the pouch - I got it from an episode of Simply Quilts, and I somehow remembered how to do it.

The insides:
Linings

The little bag turned out pretty well - I used my leftovers from the pouch and whipped it up all by myself.

I have since installed another zipper - Kyra's birthday pouch.

And, well, since I'm letting it all hang out - here's my mom's birthday bag. It's the Amy Butler Swing Bag, which is probably my favorite bag pattern. It has canvas in between the layers of fabric to make it sturdy, AND it's reversible.

And I'm spent.

Hi, Kelli! What's your blog address? I want to see who sent me that fabric!

I think the Swing Bag pattern is around $9. $12? I can't remember. But you can definitely find it at fabric.com.

Those are pretty nifty bags, it almost makes me want to sew and I hate sewing. I meant to leave you a note yesterday about your little bear, he is so adorable. It is also nice to know that I skein of the lambs pride will work. I have several lying around!

Love the swing bag. I'm working off a similar craftster pattern this weekend. We'll see how it goes!
